In recent years, boudoir photography has gained popularity as a way for individuals to celebrate their bodies, boost self-confidence, and create stunning, intimate portraits. Whether you're gifting the photos to a partner or simply treating yourself to a confidence-boosting experience, preparing for a boudoir session is essential to ensure that you feel comfortable and look your best during the shoot. Here are some tips to help you get ready for your boudoir session:
1. Hydrate!!! Drink tons of water leading up to your session, try and limit your alcohol and soda intake. Both of these can leave your skin puffy. Water helps flush all the toxins in your body and will give your skin a fresh look.
2. Plan your outfits: Selecting the right outfits for your boudoir session is crucial to achieving the look and feel you desire. Choose outfits that make you feel confident and beautiful, whether it's a lace lingerie set, a cozy sweater, or a silk robe. Consider bringing a variety of outfits to the shoot to create different looks and styles. Don't forget to accessorize with jewelry, shoes, and props to add interest and personality to your photos. You can also choose some from my client closet at no extra cost. I will also send a lingerie guide to help you with your decision.
3. Practice poses: Boudoir photography is all about capturing your beauty and sensuality, so it's essential to practice posing before your session. Experiment with different poses in front of a mirror to find angles that flatter your body and highlight your best features. Relax your shoulders, elongate your neck, and remember to smile and have fun during the shoot. As your photographer, I will also guide you through poses and provide direction to help you look your best on camera.
4. Pamper yourself: Treat yourself to a day of self-care before your boudoir session to help you feel relaxed, confident, and beautiful. Consider getting a professional hair and makeup stye to enhance your natural features and create a polished look for the shoot. Go out and get your nails done, take a relaxing bath, moisturize your skin, and get plenty of rest the night before to ensure you look and feel your best on the day of the session. This is all about you and looking and feeling your best!
5. Wax or shave. Make sure you get it done days in advance or the day before. You don't want any unwanted hairs to steal the show in your photos.
6. Communicate with me!! Ask any questions, let me know everything you want out of your session. I am here for you and want the experience to be the best experience for you. You will look back at your sessions one day and I want you to feel that awe, that happy memory, that feeling of being a total powerful bad bitch, cause I know you will!
Preparing for a boudoir session can be an empowering and transformative experience that allows you to embrace your body and celebrate your beauty. By following these tips and taking the time to prepare for your session, you can ensure that you feel confident, comfortable, and radiant in front of the camera. Remember to relax, have fun, and embrace your unique beauty during your boudoir session—you deserve to feel stunning and empowered in every shot!
